International Bicycle Donation Project

In response to the prolonged commuting challenges faced by primary and middle school students in developing countries due to a lack of transportation, the China Foundation for Rural Development launched the International Bicycle Donation Project in 2021. By integrating social resources from multiple sectors, the project refurbishes and distributes idle shared bicycles to students in need. This initiative not only promotes resource reuse and reduces commute time, but also conveys care and support from the Chinese people, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people connectivity between nations.

The project is being carried out in Nepal, Laos, and Cambodia. The program supports primary and middle school students from public schools in developing countries.

With the strong support of Hello Inc. and the COSCO Shipping Charity Foundation, a total of 7,024 bicycles had been distributed by the end of 2024. These include 1,000 bicycles in Laos, 1,000 in Nepal, and 5,024 in Cambodia. Overall, the project has benefited 7,024 students, significantly facilitating their daily travel to school and contributing to greater educational accessibility.
