Child Health Insurance Project
To help improve the health of children in rural areas, CFRD launched the Child Health Insurance Program in 2022. The program aims to enhance health protection for children from low-income rural families, create a child-friendly healthcare environment, strengthen grassroots child healthcare teams, and improve the overall child healthcare system. It includes sub-programs such as the Empowering Children Program.
Empowering Children Program
The Empowering Children Program offers comprehensive public welfare insurance to children from low-income families, reducing the risk of returning to poverty due to illness or accidents.
Leveraging the advantages of public welfare insurance, the program provides full coverage for children aged 0–14 from low-income families at the county level. It includes comprehensive protection for:
- Inpatient medical care,
- Specific diseases (e.g., malignant tumors in children, 20 types of rare diseases, and congenital heart disease surgeries),
- Accidental injuries and disabilities.
By alleviating the financial burden of medical treatment and accidents on low-income households, the program helps prevent families from falling back into poverty and contributes to improving children’s health outcomes in rural areas.
